Frequently asked questions:
Q1 How does Ginkgo help with memory?
A1 Ginkgo can support healthy circulation to the peripheral
areas such as the brain. It thins the blood and helps dilate
blood vessels, so blood can flow more easily through the
narrow blood vessels. Improving blood flow to the brain
may help improve memory and concentration.1,2 As an
antioxidant, Ginkgo also helps protect the neurons in the
brain against oxidative stress.3
Several studies have shown that Ginkgo can help improve
cognition when used long-term (approximately 6 months).4
Q2 What does Brahmi do?
A2 Brahmi has been traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine
for thousands of years as a brain tonic. Research shows
that it can help support three aspects of memory: long term
memory, short term memory and retaining capacity.5,6
It is believed to improve memory by stimulating the creation
of new neural pathways in the brain, and by lowering
oxidative stress in the brain. All this results in keeping
the mind sharp.7,8
Q3 Why are there B-vitamins in this formula?
A3 The brain uses approximately 20% of all the energy
we consume through food, but has only minimal energy
reserves and it thus depends heavily on a constant
supply of energy to function effectively. B-vitamins play
an important role in energy production and are thus
essential to support memory and focus.9
B-vitamins are also needed for the synthesis of
neurotransmitters — chemicals that transmit a message
from a nerve cell to another.10 Vitamins B1, B5 and B6
are necessary for the production of the neurotransmitters
acetylcholine, serotonin and noradrenaline, that are required
for focus, memory, learning and reducing ‘brain fog’.11-14
Vitamin B6 plays a role in the production of GABA,
a neurotransmitter involved in long-term memory.15
