A well absorbed and tolerated form of iron Ferrous sulfate is the most commonly recommended form of iron supplement. Unfortunately, this form of iron is often associated with adverse gastrointestinal effects such as constipation, nausea and GIT issues, which leads to poor compliance and therefore poor health outcomes for the customer.5
The GIT issues are due to the fact ferrous sulphate is poorly absorbed. Iron that is not absorbed by the body disturbs the normal balance of microbes in the digestive tract. Some microbes thrive in its presence, and this can result in the disruption of normal peristalsis. With reduced transit time, more water than usual gets absorbed from the bowel, resulting in constipation.6
Research shows that iron bisglycinate is up to 4x better absorbed in the body than ferrous sulfate and is associated with fewer digestive upsets. This leads to better compliance and health outcomes for the customer.7-8
To further increase the absorption of iron, this formula contains Vitamin C. It is well established that Vitamin C can increase the absorption of iron significantly.9-11

Iron is needed to make haemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to the cells. If there is not enough haemoglobin to carry oxygen to the tissues, this affects the energy production in those tissues, and can lead to tiredness and a feeling of weakness.
